Normal steels have difficulty with a salty environment. That is why Smarthides manufactures machines from stainless steel 316; an alloy with excellent resistance to the harsh, salty environment.
Stainless Steel is a type of steel to which elements such as chromium and nickel are added. This gives the steel resistance to corrosion. There are various types of stainless steel, with different properties.
We use AISI316 stainless steel
For our Smarthides salting machines, desalting machines and palletising machines we use a high quality stainless steel: AISI316. This offers superior corrosion resistance, also known as 'marine quality'. That says enough right? Smarthides machines can function 'seaworthy' in a salty environment. for years.
